Lakeland Smolt is an integral part of Marine Farms A/S, a company which has been involved in the fish farming industry since 1976. The Lakeland group of companies specialise in vertically integrated production of Atlantic salmon, from the egg right through to market size fish. This gives total control over every stage of the production cycle, resulting in fish of consistently high quality.

Lakeland Smolt commenced operations in 1987 from two sites in Cumbria chosen for their exceptional water quality and disease free status. The hatchery and head office is at Holmwrangle, near Armathwaite, with additional smolt units at Haweswater Reservoir some 30 miles further south, Argyll on the west coast of Scotland, and further sites in the north of Scotland and Shetland. This gives Lakeland the ability, year after year, to supply customers with the finest Egg, Fry, Parr, Smolt and Salmon.
